Safe Guarding

SENFOCUS is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who participate in our programs, activities, or services. This safeguarding policy outlines our organization’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of SEND children and young people.

  1. Policy Statement

SENFOCUS recognizes that the welfare of children is paramount and that all children, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, have the right to be protected from harm and exploitation. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that children and young people are safe and protected from abuse while participating in our activities and services.

  1. Safeguarding Procedures
  • 1 Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO): SENFOCUS appoint Titilope as a trained and experienced Designated Safeguarding Officer who will be responsible for the implementation and oversight of safeguarding procedures within the organization.
  • 2 Recruitment and Training: SENFOCUS will ensure that all staff and volunteers working with children and young people undergo appropriate safeguarding training and background checks.
  • 3 Reporting: Any concerns about the welfare of a child will be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Officer, who will follow the appropriate reporting procedures as outlined in the local child protection guidelines.
  • 4 Supportive Environment: SENFOCUS will create an open and safe environment where children and young people feel comfortable discussing any concerns they may have and where their voices are heard and respected.
  • 5 Partnerships: SENFOCUS will work in partnership with parents, carers, local authorities, and other organizations to promote the welfare of children and young people and share information as appropriate.
  1. Code of Conduct

SENFOCUS expects all staff, volunteers, and participants to adhere to a code of conduct that outlines acceptable Behaviour when interacting with children and young people. This code will include guidelines on appropriate physical contact, language, and communication.

  1. Confidentiality

SENFOCUS will respect the confidentiality of sensitive information shared by children and their families, disclosing it only to those individuals who need to be aware of it in order to safeguard the child’s welfare.

  1. Review and Monitoring

This policy will be regularly reviewed and updated in accordance with any changes in legislation or best practices. SENFOCUS will also monitor the effectiveness of its safeguarding procedures and make improvements where necessary.
